Krups Coffee

The major part of the Krups KP200040 or any other Krups coffee machine for that matter is the one vital ingredient - Coffee. This ingredient is more than likely one of the worlds most highly consumed stimulant drink and its prepared from a roasted seed that has the name coffee bean. This history of the coffee bean can be traced back as far as the 9th century when it was discovered by Ethiopian shepherds who realised that their goats seemed to experience increased stimulation and energy levels when they ate the wild coffee berries. From Ethiopia the Coffee Bean spread to Egypt and Yeman where people began to first roast and then brew the coffee as we still do so today.
The Coffee bean didn't reach Europe until the late 17th century when it had already begun to be known as a prized medicinal tonic that helped with digestion and worked as a stimulent.

Krups Coffee - Arabica Coffee

The Krups KP200040 uses the Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee pod system to produce the quality cups of coffee - but what is contained in these magic pods? The content is 100% Arabica coffee beans which are thought to be the fist species of the coffee bean to be grown and come from Coffee's historical home - Arabia. The Arabica Coffee bean is also known as mountain coffee or Arabica coffee and has been in production for over 1000 years. The Arabica coffee that is used in the Krups KP200040 Coffee Maker has less caffeine content than othe commerical coffee brands but is seen to be the type of highest quality.
Arabica Coffee an take upto 7 years to mature fully and is usually located at a higher altitude of around 1500m.At around 2 to 4 years after being planted the Arabica sprouts a small white flower similar to jasmine. The flowers result in a large number of berries sprouting out that require carefull pruning to prevent the harvest being effected. The berries change colour from green through to deep red and at this point are ready for picking - which is often done by hand, the coffee beans are found inside.
